Li Xiu Tian

(b. 1904 - d. 1995)

Li Xiu Tian, a native of Rongxian County, Guangxi Province, was once the principal of Chung Hua Middle School in Kuching, Sarawak. He had successively taught at Chung Hua High School in Seremban and Yuk Choy Middle School  in Ipoh, finally at Chong Hwa Independent High School, Kuala Lumpur for some 20 years.

Since 1955, Li Xiu Tian started classes to teach students on Chinese calligraphy. In the 80s, he stopped teaching at school and focused on his calligraphy education for the rest of his life. In 1992, he received the inaugural Honorary Cultural Award by Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society (MCCS). His calligraphy style is steady and upright. He regarded Zhao Mengfu and Huang Ziyuan as models of his calligraphic style.
